US Army Bell AH-1W Super Cobra Attack Helicopter 17" Wooden Model Aircraft The AH-1 Cobra is a two-bladed, single engine attack helicopter manufactured by Bell Helicopter. The AH-1 was the backbone of the United States Army's attack helicopter fleet, but has been replaced by the AH-64 Apache in Army service. Upgraded versions continue to fly with the militaries of several other nations. The AH-1 twin engine versions remain in service with United States Marine Corps as the service's primary attack helicopter. This specific AH-1 Cobra model is the AH-1W Super Cobra, a member of the Twin Cobra family, which also includes AH-1J Sea Cobra and the AH-1T Improved Sea Cobra. The W version is a day/night version with more powerful engines and advanced weapons capability. Although earlier variants have been phased out, the Super Cobra still remains the backbone of the USMC attack helicopter fleet.
